What is the RBQ?
What started out as a small regular gathering of MSCCNC members several years ago has evolved into an event where all Mazda owners can get together. This event has something for everyone - spectating an auto race, socializing with fellow Mazda owners, a car show and a delicious cookout for dinner to end the day.
There will be plenty of opportunity to socialize, look at different Mazdas (as well as an assortment of race cars of all types in the main paddock), make new friends and learn about Mazdas. There will be a significant number of individuals who are VERY knowledgeable (sometimes more knowledgeable than an expert mechanic) about the different Mazda models on hand who have undertaken many "interesting" projects for those interested in tweaking their car. If you are interested in racing your Mazda (Club, HPDE, Autocross) there are plenty of folks on hand who can help you find an easy way into the sport. Want to see what that modification does to your car or looks like? Come check it out in person. Just want someone to talk cars in general? We have auto enthusiasts with varied backgrounds and automobile histories. Want to show off your pride and joy? There's a car show with several categories and prizes will be awarded for class winners.
In addition to all of this, there will be a raffle for various Mazda-branded merchandise during the event and some gifts for all participants.
Is the event family friendly? YES! Children and significant others are encouraged to attend.
Entry Fees
- Adult RBQ Admission - $15 (dinner, raffle ticket, one car show entry)
- ***DISCOUNT - $2 off each Adult RBQ admission with each T-Shirt purchase!***
- Child RBQ Admission - $5 (dinner)
- FREE Track Entry Saturday AND Sunday - with RBQ admission, a $20 value
- FREE Dinner - with RBQ admission, a $10 value
- FREE Car Show entry - with RBQ admission
- FREE Current AutoWeek Issue - to first 100, a $4 value
- FREE Paint chip repair - to first 50, a $4 value
- FREE Raffle ticket - with RBQ admission (must be present to win) - prizes from $5 - 40
- T-Shirts (design will be similar to the event graphic at the top of the page and will be screen printed this year!) - $15
- Parade Laps - SCCA requires $1 minimum donation to Ronald McDonald House of Durham
Car Show
All Mazdas are eligible to compete in the car show. We will have several categories - Miata, RX-7, RX-8 and Mazda Sedan at a minimum. Prizes will be awarded to winners. Please register in advance.
Event Schedule
- Official SCCA schedule
- 8am - Lunch: Practice sessions
- Lunch (time at Chief Steward's discretion): brown bag/cooler on your own or at VIR concessions
- Lunchtime Parade laps, $1 minimum donation to Ronald McDonald House of Durham
- Afternoon: Qualifying sessions
- 3pm: All car show entries must be lined up for judging
- 6pm: MSCCNC RBQ
- around 7pm: Raffle
Prizes
- Just like last year, we will have prizes to be raffled off and awarded to winners of the car show
- Mazda "Zoom-zoom" gear
